DC Women Kicking Ass just released this DC Comics internal promo image by Cliff Chiang for the New 52 reboot of Wonder Woman by Chiang with Brian Azzarello scripts that’ll be released on September 21st:
The consensus on the DC Women Kicking Ass comment thread currently seems to be that this image works because it shows a strong warrior first and a sexy, beautiful woman second. Which is something DC certainly wants to be cognizant of with the recent Women-In-DC Comics fervor that’s been smoldering since the San Diego Batgirl. And I can see how you could see that in this image.
But…
Maybe it’s because I’m a guy with a dirty mind who’s used to seeing the worst in every situation, but when I look at this picture of Wonder Woman wiping off her chin? I’m seeing a picture that’s one Photoshop blood-red to pearly-white color replace filter away from being a VERY different kind of image.
Add a tentacle and I’m betting Wonder Woman #1 could outsell almost any manga in Japan.
