Sandbox For Ant-Man Replacement Directors Gets Smaller

AMWell, as quickly as rumors that Anchorman‘s Adam McKay was to step in to direct Ant-Man, they have just as quickly been put to sleep. McKay is said to have made the decision alone and claims that it is because he is already committed to other projects.

Certainly, not because it has the stench of death upon it. Nope.

Meanwhile, this leaves Ruben Fleischer and Rawson Marshall Thurber in the running for the position. Fleischer is known for Zombieland…but, also, Gangster Squad. Thurber is known for Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story…but, also, We’re The Millers.

gifLook, I recognize that this is exactly the angry fanboy keyboard stabbing that Kevin Feige and company have been dealing with since they fucked up and made Edgar Wright walk, but, wouldn’t it be better to offer the nice man a conciliatory Cornetto, give him his old script back and get back to business? Otherwise, I suppose we could hope Fleischer gets it over Thurber. Maybe we’d get another Bill Murray cameo out of it. Maybe. Maybe we get Kathleen Turner in a cameo as Janet Van Dyne with Michael Douglas telling her that the lab is hell and gone from Cartagena before tuning her up chopping the heels off her stilettos and stealing her DNA for Pym ParticlesTM.

I just have no idea where this is going anymore.

Here’s a thought for the next director:
