Worlds Finest Comics Unintentional Blasphemy

I tuned out on Anne Rice after Tale of the Body Thief, but apparently somewhere between 1993 and now, she found Jesus. In, like, a big way. The kind of way you normally find Jesus when you’re facing a long prison term, or are personally responsible for raising a generation of mopey Hot Topic consumers.

She went All In For Jesus to the point that she turned away from vampires and wrote a couple of books about Christ’s life. And one of those books, Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana, was just optioned by Sea Lion Books to be turned into a graphic novel. And Sea Lion is so excited to br bringing Anne’s personal vision of and commitment to Jesus to life that they sent out a piece of sample art. With the world’s most unfortunate caption:

Coming next year: Mohammed: Whimsical Groupthink! (I mean Mohammed ALI. Please don’t burn my house down.)

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I showed this to Amanda for editing, and she said, “Huh. That Jesus looks like he hates The Eagles but lurves White Russians.” (via Robot 6)
